Human Resources Question |
Hi. I am an Assistant Manager at a hotel in Minnesota. I have an employee that has been there there for 3 years on July 6th. Our company does annual pay increases. This employee did not get her performance appraisal last month like she should have. She told me the other day that she is moving and her last day of employment will be the end of this month. She would like her increase and back pay to go along with it. My boss is saying that we shouldn't give her one since she is leaving anyways. She absolutely deserves one. Can they do this? Of course. Raises are not automatic unless there is a contract. If she is entitled by contract, for work already performed, then she can enforce the contract. It it is just company policy and not a contract, then yes they can do that. |
