If I have 3 misdemeanors and charges were dropped can I get a job with a Federal company in Miami? |
I was arrested and charged with 3 misdemeanors in 2007. Good Question! Depends on the state you live in. For Expungment of even dropped cases some states require a waiting period of up to 10 years for more than 1 record so if you have 2 misdemeanors at the same time they might have you wait to file for the expungement call and ask the DA's office what is their requirement. Do the research before you hire a attorney. And yes all involvement with police stays on your record until you take them off, and for applying for a federal job of any type you will probably need to get a copy certified of the dismissal and bring it to any interviews. Federal jobs are 100% different than applying for McDonalds, so you did good in stating that it did happen. Any more questions feel free to email me. the thing is it does not matter if you were charged with a felony or misdemeanor if the charges were dropped. on applications they do not ask if you have been charged they ask if you have been convicted of a felony misdemeanors are not questioned and if you have not said anything they would not have found anything. what you can do is call an attorney and ask them to have the charges expunged. if you were arrested only once and charged it should cost you about 300 bucks to have it completely wiped from your record and there would be no evidence ever that you were even arrested. If you weren't convicted, you stand a much better chance to get the job you want. Convictions are a real black mark. Even so, the arrests will not be in your favor. |
