I got a positive on a pre-employment drug screen with DOT.Will DOT prevent me from future employement? |
I tested positive on a pre-employment drug screen with DOT (Department of Transportation). That company didn't hire me. I have now tested negative with a new company under DOT. Will DOT tell them about my positive test and prevent me from working in the field under DOT? I hope so.. No, there is no reason for that. DOT's job is to make sure that you are clean and sober while operating a vehicle. They do not have the time or the resource to look up your past test etc. All they see is a company submitted a test and they determine if it's positive or negative and report it, you are a number, not a name. The number is different for every test.. There are a zillion reasons as to why you may have tested positive and it isn't true now so they don't care. There is NO WAY they are going to keep a list of people that had a screen and what the outcome was. Actually DOT didn't do the test, a company for DOT did it. You should be good to go and just be very careful in what you do! I sure hope so. |
