At will employment laws???

Is there no way around this from a legal standpoint...if i am fired for holding down another job that the company i currently work for considers it to be inappropriate..say for instance i run a strip club and i also work for a doctor's office...i know according to the at will employment laws they can fire me but is there no way at all to fight it legally???

you can always get a free consultation from an attorney. They can review the details of your situation and tell you if you have a legit case.

My guess is that there is nothing you can do. Businesses have rights also. A doctor shouldn't be forced into having a bad public image if people find out that his employees are running strip clubs at night.

But like I said, you can always check with a lawyer.

At will employment laws are usually pretty hard to beat. Unless you have the at will policy in writing and you are advised before hand, you may be able to get around it. However, it would be best to discuss something like this with an attorney who deals with these types of labor issues in order to get the correct skinny on it.+

If you have a contract for a specific period of time, you can enforce the contract. On the other hand, if you are free to quit at any time, then the employer is also free to terminate the relationship. So, the way around the doctrine is to have a contract where each of you is bound for a specific period of time, with consequences for early termination by either party.

I am an attorney, and I think you should save your money and not bother to contact an attorney. If they fired you for something other than your membership in a protected group (i.e., based on race, religion, age, etc.), then there is nothing you can do.

"At will" means they can fire you for no reason at all. It's not very fair, but that's the way it works.

uh...No.
YOu can try and file; talk to the NLRB people; but such suits are costly and almost impossible to win.

At will.

In general no, unless the reason they fired you was based upon a protective class

No.
