Help. I need employment Now.?

I am 55 and have been out of work for over a year and my unemployment benefits have exhausted. I have experience in many fields with account receivables, customer service, sales and dental front and back office. I feel helpless and have never in my life felt so down. I don't know if my age is a factor or just the economy. I have no income and don't know where to turn. I was in a relationship with a narcissist man who was controling , with a jekyll and hyde personality. I was on his payroll and had medical benefits, but could not take it any more and left him. I feel like my world is coming to an end. Any suggestions.

The economy is tough. Try registering at every temporary agency in the area that there is. Some assignments are short term, some long term and some are temp to permanent. Most pay weekly.

You could also try going to your local welfare dept. and your local trustee to find out what assistance you may qualify for. Don't look at it as a hand out, but a helping hand to keep you afloat while you look for a job. Larger companies, like Walmart, are quicker to higher someone who is on public assistance to get them off public assistance as they get a tax break for doing so.

Have you been calling offices in the field you are most familiar with (dental) and getting any positive feedback? Not even one interview?

Other medical offices must have openings. Maybe you haven't tried all of the possibilities and need to reevaluate your options?

Have you checked with job retraining programs?? WIA is a program that retrains the unemployed. Workfore Investment Act.
Hasn't the state unemployment helped you find employment? Have you checked the want ads? Have you applied with temp agencies? Have been to job boards like careerbuilder.com?
