Charged with a felony?? |
if i was charged with a felony theft charge when i was 18, but the case was dropped because i paid restatuition, will that show up on a backround check for employment?? it asked if i have ever been convicted of a felony i marked no is that wrong? please help i really wanted this job :-( If the case was not brought before a court it will not show up on a backround check, you were not convicted anyway,so when you were asked you were right to say no. So you are meaning that the record was expunged? If so I think you should have checked yes, because if they were to ask any law enforcement officer about your record they could pull it up, with no problems. Because when it is expunged it still exists. But if it was not legally expunged, then you should go to court, and ask to have it expunged but there are different requirements each state so it would be wise to make sure you meet all of the requirements. If you were not convicted, the correct answer to the question is no. It is a possibility that it will still show up on your criminal history, but it will show weather or not you were convicted or it was dismissed, payed, etc. Good luck with the new job. Unless you were actually convicted, the correct answer was no. Adjudication withheld is not being found guilty, Charges beign dropped is nto beign foudn guilty. If you were never convicted it won't show on a background check and you wouldn't be lying if you checked no. youre screwed over dude! once youre 18 youre record is set in stone, man! gnarly. you might as well lie to them and try to get away with it. hardcore, brother |
