Can my employer discuss my employment and medical status with other employees? |
If this is illegal where can I find the information. I have researched it on the HIPPA website but haven't had any luck finding anything regaurding employee records. Call the labor board because it is illegal. Your medical records are protected by the Privacy act of 1974. Call and file a complaint if you have evidence they released this information to people that did not have a need to know. This is classed as serious professional misconduct and breach of employer confidentiality. You have the law on your side and may even be entitled to compensation - consult with a lawyer. |
