Fl employment referral questions?

When you have left a job (I live in FL) and you are applying for another and your new perspective employer calls your last employer, what questions can be asked and/or answer by law?

I also live in Florida and they may ask any questions. Contrary to popular belief, Florida is NOT a right to work state but an employment at will state. Unions are rare in the south and the few that do exist are not very useful unless they are federal. You new employer may ask your old employer any questions at all including things that may not be asked on the application.
