Am I eligible for unemployment?

I have been with the same employer for the last 7 years. Based on the economy, my performance has been low. My employer is giving me the option to resign or I will be terminated. Will I be eligible for employment?

I have been with the same employer for the last 7 years. Based on the economy, my performance has been low. My employer is giving me the option to resign or I will be terminated. Will I be eligible for unemployment if I choose to resign?

yes after 6 months with any company you can draw as long as they lay u off or fire u. I was laid off due to lack of work and I draw it

I am pretty sure that if you resign for this reason you will not be eligible for employment insurance. If they fire or lay you off and there are no other extenuating circumstances your company will be responsible for your insurance. It sounds to me that they are trying to wiggle out of their responsibility by saving themselves some money and the possible cost of their rates going up. Stick it to them Kid! Good Luck Bob
