What does a ""at will employment""state? Mean?

and what does that mean. I asked a question in regards to employment laws here in florida if I was hired in as a full time employee can my boss drop me down to part time, and can I quit to find a full time job and collect unemployment??

At will employment means that if you want the job you can work and if you don't like the job you can quit. It also means that the employer can hire you, demote you or fire you and he does not need a lot of reasons. Generally if you quit a job you cannot collect unemployment. If you are laid off you can collect and sometimes if you are fired but not always.

you do not want to quit, because then you will not be eligible for unemployment, if they boss is offering part time, you can refuse, thus making the company terminate you without cause related to the work, allowing you to collect unemployment while you look for another job

it means an employer can discharge you without reason or cause as long as the employer does not violate any labor laws or does not discriminate against you

you may file for partial unemployment but if your employer says that this is a temporary cut back, you may not get it

you work at the will of the employer. He can pretty much do anything with your hours. YOu can claim partial unemployment if it drops below a certain mark (probably 22 hours). YOu can quit; you probably won't get U/e

It means that your employer can fire you for ANYTHING.

Or nothing.

No, you will not be eligible for unemployment if you quit.
