Can you receive unemployment if you were let go after 5 months of employment?

I was let go at my current job due to failure to adapt to the job. Since I had been there 5 months would I be able to get unemployment???

5 months is probably not long enough to qualify unless you have additional empoyment; most states need a 12 month base period; and they may consider that as fired for cause and deny.

Apply anyway; doesn't cost, but don't hold your breath

"Failure to adapt to the job".

That sounds like you got FIRED.

If it was a layoff, yes.

if you quit the job, no.

If you got fired (ie "let go", or whatever euphemism you want), then no, you cannot collect unemployment.

Layoff is different from "let go".

i believe you have to have more than 5 months to claim on the current job. you may be able to claim against the job you had prior.

If you got fired for incompetence, you can't collect unemployment. (That's the blunt definition of "failure to adapt".)

6 months employment. fired? quit?

You qualified if you were working full time. They may or may not contest it, so go ahead and file. They'll let you know.

i believe so.

it depends on the state you live in
