Are medical marijuana users safe from drug test results regarding their jobs? |
A friend of mine wanted me to poll the 90 million yahoo answer users about this, I'm curious to (lol). Near the end of 2007 the Supreme Court said that within 90 days they'd make a decision. The decision was to be regarding testing done prior to employment and any testing that may come up during employment. Was a decision made? What was it specifically? In Oregon and Washinton, absolutely not. Even if your locality allows it,by federal law it is still a crime, and thus insurance companies can refuse to cover you,and that would be the basis for either not hiring someone or firing them.In my town I can have up to 1 ounce with a medical marijuana card, but if the fbi or other federal agent came sniffing around I would still go to prison,as ridiculous as that is. I recently saw something about this, currently no, they are not safe. There was a case about someone in California who got fired because of medical usage and the higher courts sided with the employer because the federal government does not recognize any laws allowing the use of pot. |
