If I am a salaried employee for a set annual salary, can the employer opt to not pay me for a portion ofsalary

I am employed with an educational institution. I am employed for a set annual salary. The organization has decided to close the institution for the summer due to the lack of profitability and is wanting to not pay me for the two months that we are closed, thus lowering my annual salary substantially. I have never worked in the summer before and have always been paid for summer, but the organization set out to open in the summer this year and changed their minds when they came to understand the probably financial outcome. Can a company legally not pay me for the agreed upon annual salary in a situation like this? They are not terminating my employment for summer. They are wanting to deduct my health insurance prior to summer to cover the months I will not be paid, but I accepted this job based on the salary they offered me, not the salary after deducting for the two months they are having me close for. What are my rights here?

First and foremost: Do you have an employment CONTRACT?

If yes, then they are in breech of the contract if the contract spells out a number. If it also spells out a duration, you are kinda screwed.

If no contract, you are kinda screwed. You can fight it but you will spend more money fighting it than what you can sue for.
