I was fired, will this hurt my future employment?

I was terminated from my position at a claims unit for a major insurance company. The explanation was "manipulation of the phone system". I have no idea what this means and was not given proof or explanation. I never intended to stay at this job forever. I am going to school for my Masters in Teaching. Will this reflect negatively on my applications for employment. I have been told to leave it off applications and resumes. I seem to think this is not honest. I assume that my explanation is a good, truthful, and heartfelt one. I just need feedback. I am studying for the Praxis and am annoyed that this "on the way to the dream" job can screw me over. Thanks.

I only took company calls at my desk. All other calls were made in the break room. It is set up so customers can call in with new claims for auto, home...etc (not health). I do agree I was not treated well. One thing to throw in the fire. My husband had cancer and my insurance paid out over $200,000 in December. Suddenly I became a problem. I am easy going. I maintained a 99% QA, perfect attendance and all that.

Were you taking personal calls at work or spend too much time with clients? You must find out what the interpretation of "manipulation of phone system" means. An employer is not to give out information like yours. The reason being, that some employers have falsely accused and lied about the employee they lost. With the employment information available, you should not lie but you should not say that you were fired. If asked why you left, just say for "personal reasons."

i dont know but i heard that if you get fired you dont get a tax income but you dont have to put it on your application. i know i wouldnt put that in the application

insurance companies rank just below pimping in the handling of their employees. Any good teacher should be welcomed in the real world. good luck to you and thanks for being a teacher.

Yeah I think it will affect future job prospects. You really need to get an explanation about the reason of your dismissal. I would even see a lawyer if I were you. Maybe you can force them (old employer) into saying that you left for personal reasons or you were made redundant. Maybe even they will have to give you a really good reference because of there wrong-full dismissal. (If it was one)

Being fired is like getting your ticket punched.
Find one person you know who hasn't been fired from a job! You'll still be looking next month. it happens!
No, don't leave it off your resume. You can't change history. As for reasons, use the old, " change in management, change in company direction , reorganization, or whatever feels good.
And screw "em!
Whatever you do, when asked, don't be bitter or resentful, just take the approach, " it happened ." Otherwise, it won't hurt you.

Ins companies are notorious for firing people.HR people know this. Forget it and move on.
And , file for unemployment NOW, if you haven't already.
Good luck!
