Employment lawyers and experts, can somebody do this? |
where i work, you can take a day off if you put in for it 2 weeks in advance. yesterday the owner comes in and tells people who have had their day off put in a month in advance that they cannot take a day off or they will be written up. now keep in mind that their shift will be covered. we also know that there are going to be unforseen circumstances where someone is just not going to be able to come in. even if it is an emergency she will write you up. can they do this? Your first two answers are accurate. Unfair does not always equate to illegal. so yes they can do this Sorry to say yes they can, where i work you have to have a month notice and not to many people can take your shift the boss has to approve of your choice of someone who wants your hours. If not you don't get they day off.Why should they have a day off option if they say no to it, why have it if you cant use it. I am no expert but I have had a #itch of a time with my job untilthey fired me ..so I can understand the frustrastion Essentially as long as no law is being broken the employer can set the rules as they see fit. Labor laws generally refer only to maximum number of hours per week before one must pay overtime, maximum number of days in a row one can require an employee to work, minimum wage, when you must pay, age, sick leave, and discrimination. As for time off, schedules, duties, company policy, they have free reign. well that really sucks this place is going to He__ in a hand basket get a Employment lawyers |
