Australian Employment Conditions?

Can somebody tell me whether do employees working in Australian companies get protected from retrenchment? Are employers allowed to fire their employees at will? Is there a labour law there that protect Australian workers?

What is also the average length of time a person gets to remain in his job? Is it only two or three years or is it at least five to seven years?

we are protected by state and federal laws, also unions. australia has some of the best working conditions in the world, people at my work have been there over thirty years...

waht the hell is retrenchment?

getting retrenched is like getting fired, but not for performance, but for lack of available work for your position....you usually get quite a good package....
