Does self employment did to give notice?

I been working with a company as a self employed, I have given 2 wks notice before I left. But because I over the target they set for me and I should receive an extra bonus, but they said I shall give 1 months notice before I left, for that reason they not prepare to pay the bonus to me.
what should I do? Can anyone help?

As a self-employed person, you need to have a clear contract that details the responsibilities that both you and your client face at the termination of your agreement.

If you don't have a clear written agreement, then your client wins. The client can refuse to pay anything it wishes to refuse to pay, and you have no recourse. If you try to take them to court without an agreement that states the client's obligations to you, the court will always find in the client's favor.

So if you don't have an agreement, plan to kiss your bonus goodbye. From this you will learn to have a clear written agreement next time, won't you?

Just take what they give you and hit the road. Next time, have a written agreement, abide by its terms, and make sure the client is satisfied at regular intervals. Keep your log books, time sheets, working papers, and activity reports to serve as proof in case you ever have a dispute.

If you want help formulating a good agreement, talk to the Small Business Development Center at your local community college, chamber of commerce, or university. Look into the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) on the internet. They are a service of the US Small Business Administration, and they can help you find information you need.

Sorry the news is bad. Better luck next time.
