What is temporary employment agencies?

What is temporary employment agencies?

Temp agencies will hire you and send you out on different jobs doing whatever you are qualified for. I was a temp for a while. It was a lot of fun!

A Temporary agency is one that supplies workers when companies have spaces available, as in maternity leaves or long term disabilities leaves. The agency finds the personnel needed and is paid a fee. The agency then may pay the temp his/her own salary and benefits.

In America, at least, a temp agency is: A company that employs workers who are placed on client sites to do a specific job for a set amount of time, a temporary assignment. The temp agency may even specialize, like manual labor, or tech people, etc. Most are clerical in some way. The client agency contracts with the temp agency for a qualified worker to do the job, and pays the agency, who then pays the worker minus fees to the client company. It's a great way to find out what type of work you like best, or to find a company that will then hire you as regular employee. (aka temp-to-hire or temp-to-perm)

Temporary Employment Agencies work to find you jobs that match your skills with client employers they have contracted with. The assignments can be anywhere from a few days to several months or even a temp to hire position.

Many "Temp" agencies also do direct hire positions for their clients. Many specialize in particular industries or needs such as accounting, office staff, high tech, medical, etc.

If you don't have a lot of experience or skills, they are a great place to start. Many offer training on different types of software. You can learn new skills by doing temp assignments or build on the skills you already have.

Many now offer medical and other benefits to their temp employees. Some starting as soon as you receive your first paycheck.

I did several temp assignments for a few year to build up my skills and learn about different types of software and industries. I got my current job that I've been at for over a year as a temp to hire position through a temp agency.

Good luck in whatever field you enter.
