According to Indiana Employment Law: How must a county position be advertised or posted when there is a openin |
I was recently selected by the county chairman to fill a vacancy in the voter registeration office as a clerk. According to state election law, the vacancy must be voted on by the entire election board members. When I contacted the clerk of courts, she stated that there was no opening. I know there was a opening because the current clerk was chosen as the intermin when the elected clerk resigned effective May 31, 2006. The intermin clerk was in the position that I was selected to fill. The job is advertised when the board puts the vacancy on its agenda for the next meeting. The whole board then discusses and hires whomever they choose. Keep track of the minutes or have your friend keep track. You can also send a letter inclosing your resume to apply for this position, copy to each board member. Ask the county chairman to keep track for you. He needed a vote by the entire board and possibly they preferred someone else. This is all assuming that the job is not covered by some form of civil service. Legal documenation is unable to be forged under any circumastance of law. |
