I just had a background investigation done on me for employment...? |
the investigating agency said that someone else is associated with my social security number, they gave me his name and most recent address on file. I do not know this person but he is from the same state as I am and he is roughly the same age. If this person is using your number then he is breaking the law. You need to find out exactly how much damage has been done. Is he using it just for employment, or has he gotten credit cards with this number. The kid of action to take depends on the kind of crime commited. A social security number cannot be used for more than one person. This person misused your number. i don't think that more than one person can have the same ssn. your ssn is used to identify you and it should be unique. it is a good idea to file a police report then take it from there. it may just be a mistake. you should with the credit bureaus too, just to make sure everything is on the up and up. Good luck. i hope that you get it sorted out. Yes you need to take legal action because it is not legal to use another person's SSN. that is called identity theft. He could be making charges to your credit and such things that he never intends to pay and it will look like you are responsible for. you need to get this stopped as soon as possible. sounds like identity theft - better nip it quick! Illegal aliens are able to obtain bogus green cards, social security cards, and driver's licenses. Someone randomly used your number. Along with the police report, also call social security. Get all the lawmen you can on your side here. Hey, I'd call the FBI too! |
