Help! The Judge vs. Church Elder?

My husband had a job and money dispute with another member of our church. My husband was encourged to go thru arbitration with the "Church Elder" instead of taking it to the court of law. My husband signed something saying that what was decided by the Elder would be the final decision and either party could not go to court or go further with the dispute.
There was only one signed contract and the other party would not give it to him, yet he showed up at church with all of the other unsigned offers that my husband never signed. Can we still take this to court? Even tho both parties signed the agreement that they would not take it past the Elders Decision?
Thanks in advance.

if you suspect theft, call the police.

well the US courts are not a teriffic judge of right and wrong, i would suspect the church is way too one sided to make that kind of judgement. taking it to them is just crazy

was the contract signed with a witness present (such as a notary public)? if not, then the document is not legally binding, and you may still bring said dispute to court.
