How does one go about getting a marriage annulment? |
do* and dont? I knew I would lose my late husbands pension, but I did not know his relations would throw his to the wind. He is 88 and I am 60. They are threatening him with all sorts of things. Elder abuse and I try to help him get lawyer, but he clams up and will not speak. So, he would be better with an annulment and me too I think The laws governing annulment vary from state to state. In my state I know a couple of the reasons are, you must 1) not be able to consummate the marriage for reasons of unable or unwilling; 2) you must discover something about the person after the marriage that makes it impossible for you to live with them. Check with a local attorney and he can tell you of your options. Good luck to you. I would think go to the courthouse were you got the Check at the court house where you got the marrigae license they will know if your within the time limit available for annulment. annulments are more for religious reasons from what I understand. At your ages an annulment wouldnl't seem likely to be granted. I don't really know what your details, etc have to do with an annulment. How long have you been married? I'd like to know more details. Whatever you do, you'll need a lawyer. You need to talk to an attorney in your state. Each state has it own laws about what situation qualifies for an annulment vs. a divorce. |
