TN, Is there a law to stop/prevent an ex boyfriend from spreading rumors about me in my community? |
I threw him out of my house because I found out he was doing drugs!!!! Now he is spreading rumors that I was the one doing drugs to people in my community and even to my church elders! How can I stop his lies??? Unfortunately, you can't stop a lying idiot....but, if it reaches the point of slander, or causes you emotional distress...this is the US, and you can sue the jerk. IIED maybe...(intentional infliction of emotional distress)....it would cost you money, and may not be worth your trouble, but maybe just telling him you are taking him to court will get him to shut his mouth. Hopefully people know you well enough to not believe what he is saying. But if it gets bad enough you can sue him for slander. |
