Mirror of Justice - All about Law and More
*Home>>>Elder Law

I found this in a website. Can somebody interpret what I mean so I understand. It's not homework stuff.?

This is are the sayings.

1.) If anyone ensnare another, putting a ban upon him, but if he cannot prove it, then he that ensnared him shall be put to death.

2.) If anyone steals the property of a temple or of the court, he shall be put to death, and also the one who receives the stolen thing from him shall be put to death.

3.) If anyone brings an accusation of any crime before the elders, and does not prove what he has charged, he shall, if it be a capital offense charged, be put to death.

And if you be kind for me, when I read those, they asked me if they are good laws and if they still be used today. They are lawys from Hammurabi.

The first means that if you detain someone for a crime but can't prove it, you get the punishment.
The second, if you steal from the government (temple and court) you'll be punished and anyone dealing with the stolen goods will be punished.
The third, if you accuse someone without evidence, you'll be punished.

Punishment? Death all the times. There was no jails under Hammurabi.

I don't think the Hammurabi code is good today but it probably was at that time. There's no way to enforce the Hammurabi code today. It would be like enforcing the Leviticus (check it out, it's in the Bible).

The US Constitution is pretty good, it could be better but it's pretty good as it is. The problem is that the government think it's just a "good darn piece of paper".

1 & 3. Thou shall not bear false witness against they neighbor.

2. Thou shall not steal.

There's another 7 or so that make up the full set of 10.
