Should men be allowed to enroll in all girl colleges?

i thought the purpose of all girl colleges was to provide an education (private education) to girls without the stress factor of having men around?

personally im for public coed classes but why are more men trying to go into all girl colleges? especially when there are all boy colleges?

i also read in an article once that one of the colleges in mississippi used to be all girls but a man sued so he could go there.

what does an all girl school have (other than lots of girls) that a coed school doesnt have?

im all for coed things...but there are just some things and issues in which there needs to seperation between the two.

They should but they should be limited to a small minority. The purpose is to provide a education without the male-female stress factor.

If it's a public college, then the school could reasonably be forced to allow the men to attend. If it's a privately-owned college, then the owner should not have to allow it.

Often, it would be other attributes of the school, such as location, price, living conditions, prestige of the college in question, and so on. That's why some girls want to be in the Boy Scouts (even though there is a Girl Scouts).

It is perfectly fair and not sexist to have a all-male or all-female private college. It is not a matter of acceptance, or men and women would try to pass laws keeping each other off of the streets.

With a public college, however, men are being kept from tax dollars spent on women's colleges, and vice-versa; that is not allowed.

Why is it only one way. Women have sued to go to all mens institutes and clubs, get used to it, you can't have it both ways. Its only fair, you certainly don't want a double standard do you?

But, we do have a double standard by racists who have all black colleges, black only beauty contests, black TV channels, black history month. These same racists would have a fit if there was a white entertainment network, whites only beauty contest, whites only colleges, white history month. It appears that the only RACISTS are the ones that complain the most about racism.

If it is a private college that recieves no public funds then the school should be able to decide who attends anf who does not. If the school recieves any public funds then it can not discriminate. The school you are talking about in Mississippi was The Mississippi University for Women. It is a public University and there was a law suit back in the 80s I believe that forced the school to accept men.

There are some private schools just for women, but if they elect to take federal money, then they are bound by federal law. Just as women can enroll in the all-male citadel because the Citadel takes federal money, men have the equal right to enroll in any school that takes federal money. But, there are a few schools that refuse government money and they are free to discriminate all they want.

If the feminine movement haden't opened the doors to boy scouts, mens clubs,ball teams and all the good old boy establishments, then I would object to men entering all girl astablishments like the college, but what is good for one is good for all.Women want their cake and be able to eat it too.They seem to want supremacy. I say give it to them, and let the men stay home.see if they don't die at an earlier age like men do.

People are people............male, female.....stop separating them. People=people=people.

Stop feeling so nerve-wrecked around boys. Show some acceptance.

Having a college that excludes one gender...........hmmmm........how fair would it be to have a college that excludes a certain race? Not very.

And by the way.............the same thing as happened the other way around......women protesting to get into men's colleges. Funny how you view this as a one-way-street.

Let's show some acceptance.....and stop worrying about what gender your classmates are. Focus on your studies instead.

Turn that question around and ask why a girl would want to go to an all boy school. There have been several times were these schools have been sued to force the all boys schools to allow girls in. Its nothing new.

maybe he wanted to make a point that all girl colleges are sexist unless there is all boys schools also offered and all the students went there by choice.

The same applies with HBCU's which are basically all black colleges... they are just racist, if there was an all white college o would that cause problems.

Equality means just that. If a woman can go to the Citadel (all-male military academy), then equality dictates that men can go to all-female schools. What's good for the goose....

Personally I don't believe that education should be segregated by gender or race.

No, because then it wouldn't be all girl. If they want to be with girls, then the should do coed.
