Are trial lawyers to blame for a lot of America's problems?

Trial lawyers are a major reason why the cost of health care is so high, because they are involved with the malpractice lawsuits that are so rampant in this country. They are snakes, pure and simple, and the Democrats cater to them.

Here's my idea to lower the debt in America: abolish things that the Constitution does not speak about, and eliminate the Department of Education (there are no provisions in the Constitution that say that the government should control education) and fire many public school teachers, cut welfare, and eliminate other wasteful social services. Also, get rid of frivolous lawsuits.

I'd have to agree... Health-Care costs are higher. Kids don't PLAY during recess because lawyers filed suits when kids sprained an ankle or scraped a knee. STILL though, the Government can't pull their heads out of their seats regarding Chinese and Mexican products that kill, maim, or sicken out citizens.

The DoEducation is interesting... I THINK it should be left to the States as you point out, BUT was brought under the Federal government as a result of desegragation.

Jackpot lawsuits, indigent care, and an aging population, as well as improved (costly) technology are the reasons for the high cost of health care. Regarding the Jackpot lawsuits, very little of the money goes to the plaintiff...it's all lawyer fees. Incidentally...That's how Mr. John Edwards made his fortune.
Cutting the Department of Education and other wasteful endeavors, has a great deal of merit. It's the libertarian line and there are many that feel that way.

Google the "Stella Awards" if you wish to read about frivolous lawsuits.
(Stella is the woman who is responsible for MacDonalds now serving cold coffee)
There are people who make a good living by suing doctors. One woman, who had a history of suing doctors, had a tummy tuck and then sued the doc because she claimed that her navel was a quarter inch off center.
If I recall correctly, she got $600,000.
Ian Fleming wrote that the American system of jurisprudence is the laughingstock of the English-speaking world and a total enigma to everybody else.

The percentage of the world's lawyers must be near 50 percent in the U.S. Judgments are routinely given the millions of dollars. Throwing a few million around like it was a few poker chips. Not great skill, the jury knows the insurance company is the likely victim. Teachers are just there to collect a paycheck for main part. Unions have made the "educators" into a supposed political force. I agree with your assessment. Welfare cuts: the helpless people of NOLA is proof of what four generations of welfare has wrought.

now, you just showed the world why you are not qualified to give out advice on this matter, pure stupidty.
