Is it possible to be rehabilitated from a felony background ? |
Actually I will answer my own question ... I admit in the past I have made mistakes which I'm not proud of. I wish I can make it go away and start all over but our government won't let me do that. See they are not happy with me serving my time in prison. Everyday of my 5 year sentence was like living inside hell. I deserved it. I served my time with determination to get my g.e.d. And college credits hoping I was on my way to a better life some day. But when you are released it doesn't end. For some reason the government reniged on their promise. See they tell us that we must serve time so we can be rehabilitated. But what they don't tell you is that there is no such thing as rehabilitation. Since I have been released in 2001 I have not received a single callback from any employer where I admited to having a felony on the application. All those that I lied on and sayd my background was clean called me back. Ok so you say then go to school and get an education. I would but every single degree that there is to take I can't even get ahead in any field of study because every no registered nurse, accountant, busuness manager, architect, journalist, etc. Etc. Etc. ... there is no degree that I can get that will overscede my background check. I can't even get hired at mcdonalds. Not only that but I can also not get food stamps lol ... wow ... that really blew my mind. Ok. So here I am without a job ... almost homeless and I can't find work because no one will hire me. Again I say I have made mistakes but must I pay for those mistakes for the rest of my life? The only way I can see myself alive in 5 years from now is if I start stealing ... my family has to eat somehow. So tell me how else can I survive ? If millions of illegal immigrants can find work, so can you. we taxpayers aren't real bright. we like to jail people, and then expect them to get a job........as if they've acquired some job skills and a new attitude. Join a union, job corps or the military. Unfortunately a lot of employers won't touch you because of your past. Good luck. You are living proof that actions have consequences. While I don't wish you any harm, I wouldn't hire you. My business and your history would be a clash that I couldn't allow to happen. OK, this may sound dumb but here it is, I know if you move to Alaska the state will pay you $2,000.00 per person per year to live there. Now you go get a job on a crab boat really dangerous work but the pay is great. $80,000.00 year. put half in a saving account and live off the land, the Eskimo's really don't care about yer past just what you do now and tomorrow...they will teach you how to trap and save money. Even in your spare time in the summer you can pan for gold and some of my friends have made as much as $100,000.00 doing this.Just find a nitch and do it. I know its hard but you just have to pick yourself up and ask God to help and he will maybe not on your time but his time he will help you....Good luck. Well I don't know where you live, but I had a family member who had to do some time and had the same problem after he got out and he hooked up with this program in my area called Victory Outreach, which gave him a place to live, support groups and even a decent paying job. It's pretty religious so if that's not your thing you might look for something else, but it really helped him get back on his feet. The best thing to do is start your own business. |
