Can a judge order the mother of my child to get a job?

The mother of my son will not get a job. She has the education to get a job but refusses. She lives off my child support, the child support from the father of her two other children and the state of NC. I would not have to pay as much child support if she would get a job. can a judge order her to get a job. all the children are school age. If I didn't have a job he would order me to get a job why doesn't the same happen for her?

The mother does not stay home with the children she sleeps all day. Most of the time when I don't have my son she pawns him off to someone else. She has told me that she won't get a job so her child support will not be reduced. She has training in 4 different areas and takes classes on other types of classes to get certified in something else on a regular basis but doesn't do anything with the education. I do not mind paying for my child but it took two people to make that child and I am the only one paying.

Can he? Yes!

The mother is apparently well trained in milking the system and living off of others so I'm sure she'll have all kinds of excuses as to why she can't work.

Her getting a job would not necessarily decrease your child support payments. In most states the calculation of support is based on the children needing a certain percentage of the total income of each parent and then dividing by the ratio of income from each.

So, if she got a job that paid the same as yours, the total support amount for the children could as much as double. Then you equally between the two of you and you are in the same boat. Half of twice is the same.

No he cannot order her to get a job because she has the monry she needs to raise the children even if its yours.
However, you can go to custody court and bring this up and prove that you are a better parent to raise your child and then she will have to get a job and pay you child support.

He can order her to get a job but he can't force someone to actually hire her. She will only say she's looking but not having any luck. Unfortunately for you, the judge probably won't "order her" to get a job. You're stuck until the kid turns 18.

Because the children are school age and I doubt very seriously if he is going to order her to get a job if she is staying home taking care of the children. Get over it and pay your child support.

She is receiving child support, you are not. He can, but will not. It sucks, I have an ex as well. All you can do is choose better next time my friend.

He could, but he won't. Just keep paying your child support and don't worry about her. Sounds like she is doing just fine.
