Is it possible to work in the education field if you have ever been convicted of a felony? |
I heard if you were ever convicted of a felony, even though the charge has been expunged, it is impossible to get a government job. If you had a felony that was reduced to a misdemeanor, then expunged, will it still prevent you from working as a teacher or counselor? I've known someone in the same legal situation who was denied from being a fire fighter. Answers from legal professionals or current school employees would be great. I am not a lawyer so my answer may not be correct, but I think if it is expunged, you are legally able to act as if you were never convicted of that crime. I do not know if a job as a teacher counts as a government job. You should look in the phonebook and call up a criminal defense attorney. They almost always give you one free phone call to ask questions. very interesting question VERY unlikely |
