Why do people always argue that candidates are going against the Constitution?

When the Constiution is all about interpretations? I mean, there is no strict or flexible way to interpret it, its just the way you feel it should mean. In the Dred Scott case, for example, they argued that segregation is fine, and then completely reverse it in Brown v. Board of Education. Thats not a flip-flop, thats a changing interpretation of the Constitution. It just makes me cringe when people say "they are stomping all over the constitution" when its just that person's interpretation. What do you think?

Opps my bad, when I said Dred Scott I meant Plessy v. Ferguson (which established segregation)
And the 14th amendment was already in place during the Plessy v. Ferguson case.

That's just it, there ARE strict and flexible interpretations. Those two interpretations conflict, however.

Some people just blatantly disregard it, however. Examples are Andrew Jackson, George Bush, etc.

actually it was the constitution that helped with brown vs board..
