Does Washington State not check felonies older than 10 years?

I am a resident of oregon and was convicted here of a class b felony when i was 15 (I am now 26) and it is on my adult record. I can not get it expunged. I heard Washington State employers can not check a felony over 10 years old. Im trying to find out if that is true because i am in college and going for a doctorate in Medical Genetics. Even with the education and the fact I have a family I know many states may prove difficult to obtain employment. If Washington does not check past 10 years it gives me hope, but I dont know what else to do if that is not the case. Any Help appreciated!

you could ask at your school's placement office for advice or contact a local attorney.

In my experience, and position that requires a doctorate in a scientific or technical field is not going to be picky about stuff like that.

If nothing else (and there are other good reasons), just the fact that you have succeeded in applying yourself in a difficult and drawn out process to become an expert in your field, is prima facie evidence that you have turned yourself around.
