Abstinence vs. Sex Education?

I'm wondering if anyone knows of any policies in the government now, or within the past 10 years that talk about the ideas of teaching Abstinence only programs over Sex Education, and vice versa. IF you could send me the link that you found your information on it would be much appreciated! Thanks so much!

P.S. I'm not asking opinions, I'm asking if there is a policy in the government. I appreciate your opinions, but it's not what I'm looking for.

Most Democrats oppose abstinence education; most Republicans support abstinence education. Democratic candidate Barack Obama supports sex education, while Republican candidate John McCain supports abstinence education.

I believe in sex ed. I had it. Abstinence programs don't teach about womans' sexuality, or men's either. I think a child should be informed before making a decision. My sex ed class taught us not to unless we were ready for children.

I live in Texas. I wasn't provided condoms. Had to buy them or get birth contol on my own. Didn't have a child til I was able to drink legally.

All for sex eduaction but personaly im abstince till mariage. I think that parents need to protect their kids with condoms, but the kid needs to make the choice, before the heat of the moment happends.
