What is the primary purpose of community corrections? |
Do programs such as work release, education release and furloughs pose a risk to public safety? Why or why not? The purpose of community corrections has many good reasons, overcrowding in jails and prisons can be greatly reduced, a person can remain a productive member of society and still serve their sentence, there are risks involved with anything and the court must take those into consideration before placing someone in a diversion program, minor drug offenses are being dealt with in this fashion and in a number of cases proving to be successful in doing so.~ |
