Is a verbal contract a binding contract in the state of Georgia?

I had an interview with one job and during the interview in the person kept saying "if you get the job...". The interviewer then recommended me for the job with the Bibb County Board of Education. But I never received a notice confirming that recommendation nor that I had the job. Then I had another interview within the system of the Board of Education and they told the first interviewer that he needs to overturn the recommendation in order for me to interview for other jobs within the same school system. The first interviewer said that he was unable to overturn his recommendation because I verbally agreed to take the job. To me all we had was an interview and that was it. I did not sign any documents for the job, it was, again, just an interview. Is a verbal agreement a binding eventhough I did not sign papers? If so, must I accept the job?

As far as my legal knowledge in Georgia, you will need witnesses to prove such a contract existed.

I would suggest 2 witnesses to stand in a court of law.

Otherwise it is disregarded as falsified testimony

But, yes, it is every bit as valid as a written contract. With the proper procedures.

What a bunch of beaurocratic dufuses - are you sure you WANT to work for people this dense?

You';re right, but you're going to find it difficult to change the mind of anybody that's able to come up with this mind-numbing level of excuse.

I'd shop around for a smarter school system, myself.

no all must be in writing and they have nothing unfortunately neither do you, all is null and void. no job no obligation. the company needs to seek better management
