Do whites have an advantage over minorities when it comes to employment, education, and health care?

this is for a research paper

I am responding to this question in the interest of public understanding. . I encounter people everyday that truly believe that minorities have preference in jobs and university admissions, even loans. Nothing could be further from the truth. There is a huge legal and practical difference between Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action. Simply put, Equal Opportunity means just that; the applicants status as a protected class (minorities, generally speaking, but includes white males) is not to be considered in the decision (to hire or admit). Affirmative Action means that there is an un-represented protected class employed or admitted at that organization and the organization is actively recruiting that under-represented class for jobs or admission in the school (male nursing students or female heavy equipment operators). Affirmative Action is gasping it鈥檚 last breath. Largely in part to Supreme Court decisions (or lack of them) in the last ten years. Groups such as ACRI has done their damage also. Private enterprise that have recently tried to voluntarily implement Affirmative Action policies have been stopped by legal action of reverse discrimination. Even law schools that self-report 98 to 99% white students, have been prohibited from race based recruitment. There are currently only two circumstances by which an Affirmative Action policy can be implemented: by court order or by the organization by admitting that they have intentionally excluded qualified minorities in the past through empirical evidence ( so that the organization will be able to defend itself in court challenges from groups such as ACRI). You may guess that not many organization own up to this action. Organizations (schools or businesses) have tried to circumvent the 鈥渞ace鈥?based recruitment by recruiting 鈥渃ultural diversity鈥?instead. ACRI, and those organizations similar have threatened legal action for 鈥渞everse discrimination鈥?claiming 鈥渃ultural diversity鈥?is really raced based. Perhaps it is. Organizations that still notice the absence of one or more protected classes have resorted to cloaking their recruitment of those under-represented minorities as seeking 鈥?intellectual diversity鈥? Affirmative Action has gone underground. A world of confusion still exists. In my own University, we have an Affirmative Action officer, though we have no Affirmative Action policy or program. The bottom line is that people need to understand that any organization under a Court ordered A.A. policy has been proven to have discriminated in past and are now charged with making things right. An example would be the Omaha Police Department that failed to hire any QUALIFIED Black Officers for 17 years, even though they had applicants that finished in the top 10 every year. At the end of the day, regardless of what people think or hear, thanks to organizations like ACRI, even organizations that have been 鈥渕onochromatic and same gender for a 100 years cannot skip over a qualified applicant to recruit or hire what would be a minority at that organization. Pragmatically, it is simply this, without Affirmative Action people tend to hire and recruit people like themselves. People are 鈥渦ncomfortable鈥?of people different than themselves. Organizations excuse this by offering the explanation that they want people that will 鈥渇it in鈥? Don鈥檛 think so? Check out the worst offenders: small law firms!

No, they don't.
Haven't you seen all the catering to spanish speaking individuals lately? The last business you called, did you have to press '1' for English? I get really sick of people pulling the race card everytime they get offended.
Black people have the NAACP. If white people had a NWPA ( National White People Association) it would be considered racist. If we had a White Entertainment Television, it would be racist. I think that the white race is becoming the minority in many situations because no one wants to offend blacks and hispanics, with the fear of someone crying out "racism! racism!".

I know this one is going to make a lot of people mad, but that is how I feel. I'm not going to apologize for it

Yes, the sure way to be able to tell that this has changed is when race and ethnicity are no longer on applications. It shouldnt matter if your white, black, green, or blue, but the best candidate for the positions let the numbers speak for themselves being of a certain race or ethnicity speaks nothing of a persons character.

This is probably going to be more logical and rational then other answers you will get:

Life is what you make of it.

Since many people of all races overcome adversity to become successful, i tis possible to do.

Not saying it is easy, that is why they call it "adversity".

But it is possible, and no one group is better or worse then any others at overcoming adversity once they find themselves in that boat.

NO I am white and I can't afford my healthcare. My husband is Native American and everything is paid for. He can get paid to go back to school...and I have not found a decent job yet either, so no to all.

Before affirmative auction, yes.

However, now, they are at the bottom of the totem pole.

Google "affirmative action".

Not in Zimbabwe.

Or were you referring to another country? Is so, you should have said!
