Is the reservation for women and minorities in education & in employment really required?

Is the reservation for women and minorities in education & in employment really required?

Reservation in any field should not be based on caste, religion, or sex. It should, if any, purely be on the basis econimic status and merit.
Many so called "upper cast" people live in abject porvery and vice versa. Give free or subsidised education to the economically weaker sections. There should not be any reservation for any cast/section in jobs/promotions as this may affect the quality of work. It is common that some reserved category junior workers superseding others very senior to them only because of their reserved status.

It is perverted policy of trying to reverse history.

i think reservation should not be on the basis of caste or sex, bu on the basis of economic status, because many people of lower castes are rich and they have a big and unfair advantage over general people.

I'm strictly against it & if removing it is totally impossible then it should be till +2 level only.Reason
1) It insults people ability & intellect directly
2) It allows student with lesser marks & quality to grow demoralises middle class students
3) This frustration even lead to join anti social groups, drugs...........
4) Social set up has changed a lot. When it was introduced the creamy part of the society was only upper caste
5) It is a political trump card
6) Its paves the way of misuse of taxpayers valuable money as govt. col. are subsidised & produces low quality people
7) People can't come up with the caste system
8) Greatest cause our country lagging behind
9) Job given to people with no quality
10) No fair competition
11) Self destuctive way adopted by govt.
12) It shows we are interested in quantity not quality.
Many more................ its like building a multistory building with a weak foundation
