Should morality and virtue be at the forefront of Education throughout the world?

Should Law, Ecconomics, and Accounting also be at the forefront of Education throughout the world.

Granted many virtues exist, but I'm sure a list of all virtues can be created and expressed. When comparing the most prized doccuments that rule our day to day lives be it the bible or the constitution, the muslim and budhist bibles, and other ruling documentation, we should be able to find some universale ideals of virtues worth teaching our children. Really ... how many trailerpark crack addicts do you want in charge of teaching their own children about morality?

Morality and virtue should be taught in the home.

It is up to the parents to determine what morals and virtues they want to teach their children. The schools will have to teach social courtesy, the golden rule, manners, ethics. Because " Morality and Virtue" are generally used to describe religious based values -these are better taught at home.

It should be high on the list. It's not, but it should be.

Let's start with basic reading, math and language skills and go from there.

Law, economics, and accounting are all good subjects. Morality and virtue have no place in schools. Legality and business ethics DO have such a place.

Morality and virtue are sub-culture specific. You should get these things from your home or clergy. Your view of virtue might differ wildly from another person's view of virtue. Morality is another slippery concept. Both morality and virtue, because they are generally based in religion, MUST not be taught in a public school. Separation of Church and State are tightly wound up in that concept.

Even in nations where Church and State are one (any country that applies Sharia, for example), morality and virtue are not valid subjects for schools. They belong in classes sponsored by clergy.

i say ethics, ethics and ethics in that order would be my top priority.

Morality and Virtue definitely need to make a comeback. Without them, human beings gradually turn into a horror story.

i think morals a very good attribute to teach small children, as well as teens when they become most susceptible to peer pressure. maybe just maybe if kids were taught to accept others for what they are, and what they believe in; and that we are all struggling in our own ways to survive in this world; there wouldnt be so much violence in it. but, then again, you would have to sterilize the middle easterners from having kids in a war torn community. then, raising them to think that violence and hate are the only way to live, and get ur point made. personally i think maybe, just maybe if we started at the root and worked our way up the tree of sanity we may find the disease that causes the symptoms. if they had birth control and taught that rape is a NO NO, and taught that kids are from god and should be treated with utmost respect instead of being molested and abused from birth, then possibly there may be hope for humanity to survive.
