Is it legal in Canada for a licensing body to put restrictions on accredited education? |
I have an accredited education, and I want to be employed in a province that regulates my profession with a licensing body. This licensing body analyzing my Canadian college education, and puts a restriction on my license. Is that legal? If its not legal, what can I do about it Yep it's legal. In canada there is no requirement for education from one province to be recognized by another. Different provinces have different educational requirements. Now, if your career is a NAFTA career, like if you are a Nurse, Doctor, Lawyer, etc. then your career is nationalized. But let's take for instance Paramedics... they can't just transfer from one province to another, there is no national board. Same goes for Childcare Workers, Nurses Assistants, etc. It would help if you could tell us the career you are in though. Sure it's legal. Every province has boards and other licensing bodies which are set up under provincial law. They set their own standards, and if one of those happens to be that you need a specific education, and yours is somehow lacking because your original province had different rules, then you could find yourself restricted or even barred from the profession. Yes its legal they do not recognize part of your qualification (s) . |
