How does separation of church and state fit into public higher education? Answers please!!? |
After recent events on my campus, I am trying to write an article on the separation of church and state in higher education. What happened was the campus christian club chalked bible versus on the school's walk ways.Days later, retaliation took place with opposing chalkings. The line is where people are getting offended or feel they have to deny either their faith or their lack of faith. PLEASE Find me the line in the Constitution where it says that we should separate the Church from the state. Most Colleges are state funded... The line is when I impose on you my religious believes; when I insist that you worship MY God, MY way, or else. Simply writing a bible verse on the sidewalk does not violate any concept of the Separation of Church and State. Neither does writing the opposing view. the line is where its a college where many people with different religions live their lives and it's uncomfortable and unsettelinig and threatening to those groups of people who that are exposed to this intrusive strong statement Freedom OF religion, not Freedom FROM religion. I think more dialog is always better than less |
