The coming controversy in the debate in education policy--actually, it's here already? |
will be over the matter of equal funding. In several states the courts or legislatures have decided that it is unfair for communities with high-priced real estate to have better schools than communities with lower-priced real estate. what do you think about this? The people who live in better communities pay more in tax-dollars, thus they should get the better schools. It's only fair. Socialism is basically stealing. True. But taxes fund the schools and rich people have the taxes. All public schools should get equal funding from the state per child. If parents have the money and want to add to it that is their priviledge. No matter what you do, some schools will be better than others. The best schools are the ones where parents are interested and involved in their kids' education -- and you can't legislate or fund that! Well, if we could get parents more involved with what goes on in the school, we might get better quality of education I think this is an amazingly ripe area for entrepreneurial thinking, and I am on it :) |
