omg please help meeee. prison reform Check out prisontalk.com, might offer some good articles or stats. Try googleing ANN Frank I work at a prison and let me tell you, they make life way too easy for those inmates! The Correction Officers and other officials use the mantra, "a happy con is a safe con". HAPPY? who ever said that if you rape someone or kill someone that you should spend your time in a happy place! The inmates have more rights than the guards. The guards have to tip toe around so as not to do anything that the cons might be able to sue them for. Not to mention the fact that the guards and other employees steal anything that's not bolted down. Our prison system is a mess, but too many people are getting rich from it. I am ALL FOR trying to reform people so that they are productive, honest citizens when they get out, but they should not want to go back, either. Prison should be as unpleasant as possible without resorting to abuse, but structured to give incentive for positive behavior (other than getting out early) and increased responsibility. |
