What is your opinion on the war on drugs?

Also- what is your education level? I'm not asking so I can rag on people about their education- I don't believe education has much to do with general intelligence. I'm just curious to see if there is any correlation.

the war on drugs is a joke and the joke is on the american taxpayer. the government allows illegal search and seizure without probable cause. they will convict someone that has no standing in the matter. they promulgate the drug trade. if they really wanted to win the war on drugs they would. they have the power and resources and the best technology available to them. education is the best tool to fight the war on drugs and i am not talking about when the cops go to the schools and have the children snitch on their parents. now the family unit is dysfunctional. they have us right where they want us. they abuse and use our children instead of really educating them about drugs. that leaves our children being the next victims on their so called war on drugs. what most don't understand is that if you get a felony drug conviction you are not allowed to get an education or a decent job. you are set up to fail, so most have to resort to drug dealing to survive finacially which one doesn't allow them to better themselves or their lives and make an honest living. instead they learn how to be better criminals after they have been to prison. so there is no war on drugs it's all revenue and they could give a crap who's lives they ruin for greed. it's criminal. its all about power and control. by saying war on drugs makes the citizens think that they are doing something about drugs in this country when all they are really doing is keeping the drug trade alive and kicking. it's very profitable to them as it destroys families and lives and creates new drug addicts and more money. the whole farce makes me sick and i have no respect for a government that criminalizes the people instead of protecting them and educating them to make this country the best country to be in. freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose. my education is a nurse.

The CIA and Wall Street are the orchestrators and profitteers of the drug trade, if you know what I Mena.

I have a Master's Degree. I do think education has a correlation. The majority of drug abusers do not have an education, in my opinion. In fact, I have never met anyone over high school or freshman in college age that does drugs. I teach at 6 Universities so I come into contact with a lot of different people.

Much like our "war on terror" it's a war worth fighting but an open-ended one that we can't concievably win.

Contrary to a lot of people here, freedom doesn't mean getting to do whatever you want, and the addictive properties of hardcore drugs (and what they lead people to do to acquire more fo the durg) seriously affect the social fabric and productivity of a community or state.

As for lighter drugs, sure a lot of people try them, but this doesn't implicitly mean that they should be legal. Anyone who claims marijuana isn't addictive has never had a friend who gets stoned 3 times a day because, while they're not addicted to the substance, they are addicted to the physical habit and the lifestyle.

Basically, we're supposed to say what we think is right, hence the war on drugs. We can't hope to win it outright, but we're doing it for the right reasons.

the war on drugs may be well intention but, i know about a place where a rapist gets parole to make room for a dude that has sold a pound of weed to me thats a crime!

Opinion: That it isn't working. I think drug DEALERS and makers should be punished more harshly, and that drug users and those caught with drugs they intend to use should not be put into jail, but forced into rehab. I have that opinion because I was PERSONALLY affected by someone else's drug use (my mother is an addict, and because of her drug use I suffered horribly when growing up). While I know that people are only going to get off drugs if they really desire to do so, I still want to see those who make and sell that poison punished.

Drugs have a way on balancing economies and aiding medicine cashing. It is unusual to find health plans unwilling to commit to perfection and open mind in the search of good medical care and some dollars too. There is much correlation between drug prosecution and control, yet difference is drug is controlled by lords, and prosecution is deemed by much hated dea and some medicine factories amidst Europe and Rusia.
About drugs I have to tell there is big difference among them according to my studies, of course, yet coca and hachis are very good on coronary, conjunctive and limph tissue, providing stability and some grip on fun, attention and neural activity, provided some prior intelligence the users are bound to improve their already highened abilities and perceptions. It is very sad those who do not possess those abilities, brains and perceptions do not get to the point of opening up their minds as to be profesional and say some truth. Are we clear? evolved budas and enlightened beings of light will say most of the things drug users do say and affirm.
About your white war on drugs, I too think your country is not to embark in yet another form of stupidity and distress on their families. It is wise to speak up your mind, yet does not seem same to blout it in order to gain some favor and credit for your republican white asse war on trivia.

Drugs have won. Advanced college degree.

It serves a few purposes.

It keeps politicians in office; they used it to scare people between Communism and Terrorism.

It makes a lot of money for people who run private prisons and make police equipment, and these people give politicians campaign funds and run independent astroturf campaigns

It is active discrimination against a certain class of people... and it helps that they've grouped marijuana in with other drugs, it means that marijuana users who normally would wish to be law-abiding citizens often end up feeling a lack of legal/moral pressure keeping them from trying other drugs. Also, to make drug use look like such an epidemic, they need to group in marijuana users or the numbers just don't add up.

It is a distraction from and scapegoat for real issues such as poverty in the U.S.

Legalizing all drugs or even just marijuana would lead to a can of worms opening up that the government is too corrupt to properly resolve. Why is it legal to smoke pot, but not to eat mushrooms? Occasional, restricted use of LSD? Harder drugs: should offendors be given free health care to deal with their health problems? If so, shouldn't alcohol and cigarette users? If not, shouldn't alcohol and cigarette users be denied free health care? If we pick and choose which drugs are legal and which are not, how can we let something with no benefit and serious health risk like cigarettes become legal?

although cigarette companies are ready with packs and campaigns ready to jump if marijuana is ever legalized, I think they have it as an emergency backup plan to make money on it, but I think they know they would lose a lot of money on cigarettes if these issues were brought up.

Right now we have a policy of not paying attention to these important issues... just leave alcohol and cigarettes legal, because they are rich and have seniority, and leave the rest illegal, to avoid controversy.

It is the consistent pattern that any time a war has been declared on any abstract concept, it flourishes.

That includes wars against reading, wars against religions (look at how well the Romans did with their war against Christianity), the war on poverty, the war on drugs, and the war on terror.

If you focus the attention of a large segment of the population on something, it grows to meet that attention. Basic law of quantum physics.

It is a scam. If the government wanted to stop the drugs they could. Instead every year the amount that comes into the country has increased every year. They continue to claim record busts but the supply is never reduced. It is a method for the government to lock up more and more people.
When you really think about it and analyze all that is going on it is a very ingenius plan. They control the flow of all drugs into the country and profit from it on that end. Then they can lock up the users, pay attention to what is happening in your local courts, it is never the big time dealers that get caught but the user and small time dealer. They lock up the people most likely to fight them in the event of a revoultion. People that do not simply accept what the government tells them. Once convicted, (most drug convictions are for simple possesion which is a non-violent offence) they can then prevent these same people from owning any weapons through a law that was passed back in the 90's without any media coverage at all. What is the best way to defeat a country? Disarm them, this is exactly what our government has been trying to do for many years now.
There is much more going on than most people want to believe but they must pay attention the very existence of this country is at stake here folks.
