School Vouchers- What's your opinion?

What are your thoughts on school vouchers? Do they violate the Establishment Clause of the U.S. Constitution? Are they good for education? bad for education? give me some thoughts. I'm writing a term paper on this, and would love to get some public opinion on my own, since i don't trust polls or statistics that i read.

it seems like a scam to me,. but then again no one has bothered explaining it in a hundred words or less in plain English about all the loop holes,. like are they going to just give that same voucher dollar amount to a rich person as well as a poor one? wouldn't that rich person then just add their own money as well in order to get in to the better, more expensive school?! and those that believe that teachers should work on `commission` then so should a CEO of bankrupt company that lays off employees and are losing the value of their stock! instead of getting a raise! and a golden parachute retirement!

School vouchers do not violate the constitution. They allow families to have the freedom to chose which school their children attend. If a child is attending a poorly run school, why should the parents be required to send their child there? Parents should have the option to send their children to a good school. Vouchers would allow those who do not have the funds to send their children to private schools the option to do so...and what is wrong with that? It would also force the mediocre schools to improve, otherwise they would close down for lack of enrollment.

The government should follow the example of private enterprise: If a business is not performing well, it will go out of business.

In my opinion state schools should be abolished. Education is a commodity like any other & should be purchased by those who want it. The state education system is a clear example of what is wrong with Socialism: It costs an enormous amount of $$, takes away individual freedom & produces crappy results for everyone except those who live off of it.
