S I am not trying to put my son on meds?
Thanks you for all your answers. First yes, he does have ADHD with his father. Silly question.....I am not trying to medicate my son, I need a diagnosis for education purposes. The school is acutely aware of my sons ADHD and I had 1 psychiatrist also diagnose him with it. But my ex wants all these other opinions, I guess hoping to get someone to say he doesn't have it. The school needs a diagnosis to they can prepare a plan of action for next year. That's all. I spoke to my ex and we talked about treatment and even he said that if it comes down to it we would talk about it. But that is not the issue.

i put my son on a low dose once a day med for his adhd at the begining of the school year.....the teachers and i worked together on the action to take...he has done a total 180..better grades, better attitude, better sleeping and eating..he is like a new little boy...he just turned 8 and doing so much better..it has not "cured" him but has made it manageable to control....his grades were suffering before the meds so bad and he had noooo attention span....something to think about

asking if he has ADHD when father is around is NOT a silly question, as I have seen many kids that are on Ritalin and other drugs that are only required when a weak willed mother will not or can not punish inappropriate behavior, and when they spend weeks with their father they have no meds and NO episodes. They know it will not be tolerated and they refrain.

When I was younger, and in school, I had ADHD.
My kindergarden year, I didn't take meds, and I couldn't concentrate. In second grade I started taking them, and everyone saw a HUGE emprovemet. I started getting way more friends, and better grades. In fourth grade, still taking meds, I was diagnosed as a gifted child. So, putting him on meds would be a great thing.
