Why do we HAVE to go to school?

I know that we go there to learn and blah blah blah. I just want to learn on my own time. The constitution says we have freedom to do as please we use or own will and all that. The thing is they are forcing me in school. I need time to release stress from parents and school and teachers. My peers aren't the issue. I know it says we all have the right to a free education, but just because we have the right doesn't mean we have to take it right? Serious answers only would be nice

Minors do not have the same rights as adults, and they do recieve special protection under the law.

So, yeah, you HAVE to go to school.

You're NOT in charge of yourself until 18 is why. Legally YOUR PARENTS talk/make decisons for you until you turn 18 and can legally make you do what they want.

Sorry, but until you're 18 you're not the one who's making the decisons.

You have to go to school so you can an education and hopefully not be a drain on society. Obviously this doesn't always work. And I'm sure that after some time off you'd go back to school. Go to a local drug rehab sometime and take a poll on how many people there decided to take a break from school and never went back.

you have to go to school to receive a basic foundation learning on your own can be done when you know the basics. go to the library and get a GED test booklet...see if you can pass....go to the labor dept and see what types of jobs are available to a person with your level of study feel free to check the want ads, because honey if you are not in school...you better have a job.

The constitution says nothing of the sort. Part of the theory of government is to serve as a sort of statewide paternalism for the people. Not only can the government restrict the actions of adults from doing things that are ultimately harmful to those adults, it can restrict the actions of children.

Between the 10th Amendment and the Commerce Clause, both state and federal government have power to mandate education.

To learn moral values,punctuality,respect,to have friends,and also to enjoy the school life..If u are not going to school u will miss a lot, but don't feel it later???????

First off, the government wants to make sure you get a certain standard of education. If you were to try to learn all by yourself you might find it a little hard. That is why we have teachers. Maybe you should talk to your parents and check out home school. If that is no good, try talking to your teachers and explain to them that they are going to fast, or "Forcing" you. Also, you really don't have any rights as a minor. Until you are of a certain age, your parents and the government own your rights. Besides, you should enjoy school. It is a lot harder out there in the adult world.

the law also says that until u are 18 u do what your parents say. so u argue and u rebel but u end up doing what they say. that is why u go to school, and eventually u realize that it is the right thing to do.

pulse if want to drop out u have to be 18 and by den u are a senior, a couple more months and u are done. it is not worth it .

The point of life is to do what you like. Follow your dreams, be they fishing or physics. No rock star ever regretted cutting school, and neither do I...

When you finally find something at school that you enjoy, you will understand how to take advantage of what it may have to offer, and make society's unfair institutional conscription that is modern-day education work to your benefit in the long run.
