Why do lawyers in texas....?

have to continue going to school and getting education after they graduate from law school, and who enforces the law that makes them go back to school. Also if you know what website can i find ethics a lawyer must abide by online, and who also enforces good ethics with the lawyers? Any information you can give me would be wonderful, thank you.

The Texas Bar Association website will answer all these questions, and more. Go to:

They continue to go to school because the law evolves and changes every day. Just like medicine. Would you want to go to a doctor that didn't keep up on the latest breakthroughs?

The State Bar Association enforces continuing legal education. If lawyers don't continue their education, then the State Disciplinary Commission can suspend/revoke their license.

Ethics are enforced by the public, other lawyers, and judges referring attorney's breach of ethics. The public, other lawyers, and Judges can report purported lapses in ethics to the State Disciplinary Commission. The SDC investigates the claim.

The Texas Bar Association website above is a good place to start. You can also call your county's bar association for more personal information.

Good Luck
