NJ Unemployment Question?

I have been employed full-time for the past 3 years. I decided to go back to school full time in the Fall to complete my associates degree. I will complete it in the Fall. According to the web site, this is their requirements to be able to collect:

The training is for a labor demand occupation and likely to enhance your marketable skills and earning power. Training can include vocational, remedial education or a combination of both.

"Labor Demand Occupations" are occupations for which there are, or likely to be, more job openings than there are adequately trained workers.
(2) The training is full-time. If training is part-time, you must be available for and actively seeking full-time employment in order to collect unemployment benefits.
(3) The training provider or school has met all state and local requirements to be approved to give training.
(4) You can reasonably be expected to complete the program.

Does it sound like I qualify?

I just can't understand the wording here- it's too vague, it seems like it would be at the sole discretion of the person who interviews me.

since you are looking for the exception to the rule if you quit with out good cause connected to the work you can not qualify for benefits, until you returned to work for four weeks,

it will be your burden with the examiner to justify your position , depending on the hearing examiner they may or may not do it

I live in New Jersey and have collected State unemployment insurance. (And if I keep accessing Yahoo Answers on my work computer, I may have to do so again!) Anyway, I think you do qualify. I see nothing in the above that would disqualify you.

But do not take anyone's word for it outside the State Department of Labor. Call them. Set up a face-to-face appointment if you have to. This is too important to be left up to unofficial people like me and your fellow Yahoo Answerers. We may turn out to be right, but BE SURE.

You can only collect unemployment compensation if you have been laid off from work. You cannot collect if you quit - unless your employer is breaking labor laws and you are directly affected (such as not paying you overtime, late paychecks....things like that).

I suggest you go talk to someone at your local unemployment office and ask how you could become involved in the program. Usually these programs are "retraining" programs for people who have lost their jobs and are having difficulty re-entering the job market...but it wouldn't hurt to check.

When I was laid off, they had mandatory attendance at several workshops on resume preparation, information on training available and such. But, I don't know if it would apply to you.
