NEED LEGAL ADVICE QUICK! Was assualted by BF. Decided not to press charges, but filed report. I did this b/c?

I didn't get violent, but I messed up his room real bad after and during the incident b/c he dragged me across the floor several times. He was trying to have me leave the only reason I resisted is b/c he was pushing and dragging me (see my last Q posted for incident details). Now my Q is, if I change my mind to press charges, the detective said it's likely the DA could order us to take anger management. If this happenes, will this order and incident come up during a background check on me? I'm a 24 yr. old college grad looking to go further w/ my education and career, so I don't want anything bad like this to possibly come up and hurt my future. Any advice.? Did I do the right thing by having the report filed and not taken to the DA? My ex charged me b/c while arguing I threw a piece of candy at him. But like the detec. said, he didn't have to put his hands on me, even if it was to get me to leave. I need to decide if I'm going to call back the det. this am to press charges. Pls Help

I.m no attorney but you need to drop this and move on. I would certainly not assume the law is on your side.

Next time you are in that situation walk-no run-away from the guy.

I had a friend with a violent ex-husband. She called the police during an argument and she went to jail, not him. The law ignored much evidence(such as she is half his size).

Yes call back the detective, press charges, and in the future when it shows up on your back ground checks, tell the prospective employer that it was a domestic situation and the only way you could get your significant other into counseling.

i am some-what confused here.... if your bf assaulted you, why did the cops not put him in jail? in my state, if the cops are called and there is evidence of a struggle or physical abuse, they go to jail and the victim has no say in the matter... i say, get away from him and stay away from him.. and who knows what will come up on your record... if you want to become president or something.. they will get all the dirt they need...

He had no right putting his hands on your or dragging you. email me direct with details because the way i see it HE ABUSES YOU. you need to contact the domestic violence hotline but again unless there are things you haven't mentioned. oh and why did you mess up his room? did you see madea? diary of a mad black woman? well when he dragged that woman out of his house, that sent me somewhere! that is the UTTERLY DISRESPECT FOR SOMEONE TO DO TO YOU.

I will never be able to understand the female mind. WHY do you take this kind of crap? Wait til he's asleep, take a baseball bat, and show him what abuse really is! It would only take 1 time for me to be hit before he would regret the day he was ever born! But especially the fathers of daughters that are abused by husbands, and the fathers want to go the legal route. Can't understand it. No police, no lawyers, no court. Only PAIN! That man would suffer like no man has ever suffered in the history of the world, that would lay hands on MY daughter.
