Does Irish drink driving apply in England?

In Feb. 2007 I was convicted in Ireland of drink driving and lost my irish license. However I already have a uk license and am using that in the uk. Is this ok?
I want to change the address on the license but I'm afraid the DVLA will check with the irish authorities before issuing the new license. Any ideas?
