The only copy of a divorce decree signed by the judge has gone missing......?

How can one get a second copy of their divorce decree and have it signed by a judge? Please tell me there is a way of getting these documents without having to go through the attorney used during the original divorce proceedings? Because it has to get signed by a judge, wouldn't there be a copy that could be obtained through her assistants or clerks? Also, how long can something like this take to obtain?

Divorces are usually handled in a Superior Court. Almost all Superior Courts have a judge who is in charge of running the court house. He may be called "Administrative Judge" or "Presiding Judge" or "Supervising Judge." Find him. Tell his clerk what is going on. Stand back and watch the fireworks. If the decree was lost, it will be re-created. And signed, scanned, microfilmed and delivered to you with astonishing speed. This should resolve in three days, max.

You can request a certified copy from the Clerk of the Court in the County where the divorce occurred.

There must be a way you can request copies from the court ! I'm glad I've found your question !!

The divorce decree would have to have been filed with the District/County Clerk for it to be closed.

You can just go to the courthouse and ask for a copy for a minimal cost.

I can't imagine this would really be a problem. You should be able to call the clerk of courts and request a copy.

i had copies of mine
